Second phase of Pitsea regeneration given green light
Council-owned sites in Pitsea town centre are to be redeveloped in the second phase of the area's regeneration.
Basildon Council’s cabinet approved on 3 November a strategy to progress with plans for the town, which has recently seen a major commercial revamp.
Carried out by London & Cambridge Properties, the first phase of work, completed this year, involved the construction of a superstore run by The Range in Rectory Park Drive, the provision of an Aldi supermarket and the redevelopment of the market square in front of the High Road, along with improvements to the surrounding public realm.
Basildon Council is now bringing forward its sites in the town centre for redevelopment: Pitsea Area Housing Office, The Place community centre, Pitsea Library and Dipple Medical Centre.
Homes, a new community hub, a new library and improved medical facilities will be considered as part of the plans.
More detailed proposals will now be drafted and public consultations held. The final version of the scheme will then be resubmitted to the cabinet for approval.
