New homes for Wickford
Work has begun to build 24 homes in Basildon, after the council approved plans lodged by developer Keepmoat Homes earlier this year.
The three and four-bedroom properties will be accessed via five points off Radwinter Avenue in Wickford.
Plans were narrowly approved by the planning committee; six voted for and four against.
In January of this year, the council deferred an application to purchase the land.
The housing is being developed with the aim to accommodate the town’s growing population and create affordable housing.
Basildon Council agreed to sell the land at Radwinter Avenue to a developer in March 2013.
